X18+ FILMS
The Business and Industry Licensing Unit is reponsible for the administration of the Classification (Publications, Films & Computer Games)(Enforcement) Act 1995. Customers are: applicants for X18+ film licences, X18+ film licensees; the ACT Government and anyone who has a complaint, involvement with, or concern about the operations of premises licensed under the above Act.
The Office provides:
- information about the requirements of the Classification (Publications, Films & Computer Games)(Enforcement) Act 1995 in the form of telephone advice, counter services and information circulars;
- information and assistance in respect of the issue of X18+ film licences;
- inspections of licensed premises to ensure compliance with the Classification (Publications, Films & Computer Games) (Enforcement) Act 1995;
- investigation of complaints about the operation of licensed premises; and referring matters, where relevant, to the Registrar of X18+ films or the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Particular emphasis is given to the sale of unclassified or refused classification films.
