INCORPORATION GENERALLY
It is recommended that associations or groups considering incorporation review the legislation and associated supporting information prior to making a decision to incorporate. While incorporation provides legal protection to the members, there are particular requirements under the legislation that must be adhered to on an annual basis. This includes the lodging of audited financial returns, maintaining the register of members and advising the Registrar-General if and when changes occur to that membership. Upon incorporation the information pertaining to the association becomes part of the public register. The public register provides members of the community with details of the current status of the association in a transparent and accessible manner.
