Welcome to the Office of Regulatory Services

The Office of Regulatory Services (ORS) falls within the Justice and Community Safety Directorate and is responsible for regulatory and support services that aim to protect the public interest in key areas including:

  • worker safety;
  • driver and vehicle licensing;
  • parking amenity;
  • identity security;
  • title guarantee;
  • fair trading; and,
  • consumer protection.

The ORS provides support for evidence based policy making via the provision of accurate and reliable data sets for the community, industry and government. The ORS also regulates many industries, occupations and activities that cover a wide range of businesses, single traders and employees in the A.C.T.

      The Office of Regulatory Services is responsible for the registration of a range of events in the A.C.T. including births, deaths and marriages.

    • Fair Trading

      The Office of Regulatory Services is responsible for ensuring a fair and safe marketplace for A.C.T. consumers and businesses.

    • Land Titles

      The Office of Regulatory Services is responsible for the registration of all land related transactions pertaining to the purchase and sale of land and properties in the A.C.T.

      The Office of Regulatory Services supports the introduction of the Working with Vulnerable People Scheme, a mandatory background checking and risk assessment system for people working with vulnerable people in the A.C.T.
